Planning Group PicThe Planning Department's mission is to serve the citizens and businesses of Woodland Park with information with regard to land use, zoning, and orderly development of our community.

The Planning Department provides assistance in a variety of areas, such as:

  • Zoning regulations and land use questions
  • Zoning Development Permits (ZDP) for all new construction including remodels, additions, decks, fences, sheds, accessory structures, signs, etc.
  • New development process and requirements - both residential and commercial
  • Subdivision of unplatted land or replats of existing subdivided property
  • Annexation requests and process of contiguous property
  • Flood damage prevention
  • Code Enforcement issues
  • Historic preservation landmarking program

Woodland Park Building Department

The City partnered with Pikes Peak Regional Building Department in 2013 to provide all building services for new construction, remodels and additions for commercial and residential structures.  For information regarding any type of building project, please contact our Permit technicians, David and Terri at

PROJECT(S) OF THE QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS

The Planning and Building departments have been in constant motion with various development projects in 2014.  There have been multiple exciting remodels and redevelopments of structures to accomodate new business ventures, as well as many completely new commercial developments.  We have also seen a rise in the number of Single Family homes in the City from 6 in 2012 and 2013 to 12 in 2014!

Wommack PUD Amend Garage Rendering

Charis Bible College was approved by the Planning Commission on Jan 8, 2015 to amend their Planned Unit Development to include a Parking Garage, an expansion in auditorium seating capacity, and an addition of an apartment to the auditorium as part of Phase 2. (Above)

Arby's 1st QTR Highlight

Arby's Restaurant opened its doors for business at 407 E. Highway 24 (previously Tabeguache Steakhouse) on Dec 29, 14. (Above)

GHN Rendering

Gold Hill Square-North, located on lots 1-7, Block 26 of Highlands Addition, received approval of a Conditional Use Permit on Nov 20, 14 to allow for seven (7) attached residential dwelling units (i.e., apartments) above existing busiensses in the Central Business District. (Above)
