Sign permits are required for most signs in Woodland Park. The City adopted a new sign code on April 1, 2010 (PDF). Please consult the sign code and the educational brochures below for guidance on when permits are required and what is allowed in terms of types and sizes of signs.
For those signs that require a Zoning Development Permit (ZDP), it is necessary to complete and submit a sign permit application to the City of Woodland Park and have it approved prior to installing the sign. In some cases, there may be structural elements of a sign (such as in a free-standing and/or a lighted sign) where a Building Permit or an Electrical Permit may also be required. Please call the Planning and Building Department at 719-687-5202 to inquire about this possibility.

This is a 2-step process - the first step is to complete the Multi-Use ZDP Application (PDF) and submit to the Planning and Building Department. We have hard-copies available at City Hall as well. This will be reviewed for conformance to setback requirements in your zoning district.
The second step is to submit your construction drawings to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. This can be done by submitting your plans to the Woodland Park Planning and Building Department at City Hall for routing down to Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (PPRBD), or you can submit directly to PPRBD to expedite the process. They are located at 2880 International Circle in Colorado Springs. You can always call PPRBD at 719-327-2880 if you have any questions regarding this process.
